Pickachord Review - Music to Be Murdered By - Eminem

Music to Be Murdered By - Eminem

Eminem surprised everyone by dropping his 11th album on 17th January 2020. This album feels like a follow up to the last album Kamakazi as the angry version of Eminem can be heard evidently throughout the album. Dr.Dre shares the producer credits on the album - which is something worth noting. There are several collaborations on this album as well - Black Thought, Q-Tip, Juice Wrld, Ed Sheeran, Young M.A, Skylar Grey, Don Toliver, Anderson Paak, Royce da 5'9", Kxng Crooked and Joell Ortiz among others.

There are total 20 tracks on this album and after hearing the full album we can say that this FIRE. Eminem is literally Rap God.

There is something for everyone on this album.

Premonition is an intro but for me it was the perfect start. The angry Eminem just starts spitting bars and makes you ready for what is about to come.
Darkness touches on a very sensitive matter with double meaning bars from Eminem drawing parallels between himself and the mass shooter at Las Vegas. The music video of the song was a shocker for every first time viewer.
Unaccommodating gave us a never-thought-of collab between Young M.A and Eminem but I think Young M.A did exactly what was expected of her and then Eminem took over and killed it - even made some people mad with his Ariana Grande concert bombing line - but that is Slim Shady - so we shouldn't be shocked or surprised.
You Gon' Learn & Yah Yah are 2 songs that remind you of the difference between the new rap artists and these legends. The power of words and how some lyrical geniuses can twist them to their own will is showcased in these songs. Must listen for the old school rap lovers.
Godzilla is the biggest hit from this album. The song features Juice WRLD, who passed away recently. RIP Juice WRLD. The song has a section where Eminem raps faster than what he did in Rap God. There was a #GodzillaChallenge on TikTok few weeks ago where you had to lip-sync the fast verse from the song.
Step Dad, In Too Deep, Never Love Again, Leaving HeavenFarewell are the emotionally driven songs that shows us the different side of Eminem as an artist.
Lock It Up is a BOP. The song features Anderson.Paak who delivers one of the best hooks on the album & there are some really fire hooks on this album. Eminem has some really clever bars even in this catchy-vibe song.
Those Kinda Nights reminds you of the old funny Eminem. The song features Ed Sheeran on the hook.
Marsh for me one of the highlights of the album was this song. Every thing about this song is FIRE. The lyrics, hidden meanings, flow, cadences, refernces, etc. Its a must listen for all those who appreciate clever writing.
Little Engine is another song where it shows how Eminem can fuse fun with amazing lyrics. The flow of the song is mimicking the Little Engine sound - genius!
No Regret is where Eminem talks about all that has happened so far in his life - good and bad - and he doesn't regret anything. There might be things he would have done differently but he doesn't regret anything. Very amazingly crafted song (ofcourse it is Eminem we are talking about) but for me the highlight of the song was the chorus sung by Don Toliver - mesmerizing.
I Will features the Slaughter House minus Joe Budden. This bar heavy song was the perfect last track of the album. The hook of the song reminds you of the old times.

The skits are the only part of the album where you get space to breath and rest your over-worked brains!!

It's a Must Listen album for all Eminem fans and fans of old lyrical hip-hop. Try catching all the bars in the album... All the best!
